Anger Management Program

Our eight (8) to twelve (12)-week anger management program provides participating individuals with the understanding of anger and aggression, myths surrounding anger, habitual responses to anger, and introduces a method for monitoring anger using the anger meter. This program is conducted in a group treatment environment conducive to maximum participation and peer group support.

 

Participants will be provided with a summary of the programs core concepts, worksheets for completing between-session challenges, and space to take notes for each of the sessions. The concepts and skills presented during anger management treatment are best learned by practice and review as well as by completing the between-session challenges presented in the workbook.

The purpose of Anger Management Group Therapy:

  • Learn to manage anger effectively

  • Stop violence or the threat of violence

  • Develop self-control over thoughts and actions

  • Receive support from others

Goals and Objectives:

  • Understand how thoughts and emotions affect decision making and responsible behavior

  • Understand the relationship between events, thoughts, and feelings

  • Develop strategies to manage stress and motivate successful performance

  • Learn relaxation techniques to manage stress and when to use them

  • Evaluate strategies for preventing and resolving conflicts

  • Learn how to use assertiveness and positive decision making to stay in control and out of conflicts

  • Understand the feelings of others and how to deal with an accusation in a positive manner

This program teaches participants adaptive information processing and coping skills essential for managing anger their responses.
